Environmental Management

 

The Environmental Management major is an interdisciplinary program designed to prepare people for professional careers in a variety of environmental fields including federal, state, local and tribal government, consulting, industry and other privately owned companies.

 

Environmental professionals are responsible for protecting human health and the environment.  This involves ensuring compliance with numerous environmental laws, applying scientific principles to manage and reduce wastes, and helping to develop an environmentally-focused social ethic that recognizes the impacts of human activities on the general population, ecosystems and the planet.  Environmental professionals go beyond simple recognition of environmental problems; they develop new and innovative solutions.  This requires effective communication, critical thinking, decision making and interpersonal skills.

 

Environmental professionals enjoy careers that are both personally and financially rewarding.  Global warming, deforestation, species decimation, degraded air and water quality and habitat destruction are just a few of the significant environmental issues facing the planet today.  The Environmental Management major is your path to being part of the solutions and making a real difference in the world.
